MEINNO Duo

Two Wavelengths, One Frame

Red light for the hours you spend up close. Blue light for the mornings that start before the daylight does.

Same button, same 1.8 oz frame. Press once for red, hold to switch to blue. That's the whole learning curve.

Two Modes, Two Jobs

They're not doing the same thing, and you won't use them at the same time.

670nm Red

For your eyes

A gentle deep red wavelength studied for its role in supporting the body's natural cellular energy processes. Ten minutes between meetings, or before you sit down with a book.

10–15 min  ·  2–3× a week  ·  mornings suit most routines

MEINNO Duo in 480nm blue mode
480nm Blue

For your body clock

A daylight-style wavelength commonly used to support alertness and rhythm. It sits in the 465–495nm range, well clear of the short-wave blue below 450nm that people worry about.

01  —  The light

One button, two spectrums

The same LED strip runs both modes. Press to start red, hold to switch to blue. Brightness eases up over the first sixty seconds either way, then holds steady until the timer ends.

02  —  The morning

Light while you make coffee

Most light boxes ask you to sit in front of them for half an hour. This one goes on your face, so the twenty minutes happen while you're making breakfast, answering email, or getting the kids out the door.

03  —  The frame

Two devices' worth, in one carry-on

An open frame with no lenses and no glass, resting on a soft rubber bridge. The silicone arms fold flat, and the zip case is small enough for a laptop bag. Particularly useful if you travel across time zones.

A Day With Both Modes

You won't use them together. Here's how most people space them out.

7–9 AM

Blue mode, 20 minutes

Put it on with the first coffee. Daylight-style light while the day gets going.

Mid-morning

Red mode, 10–15 minutes

Two or three times a week, before the close-up work starts. Mornings are where the research found the clearest effect.

Afternoon

Red mode, if your eyes want it

Any time works. If four o'clock is when your eyes feel it, that's a fine time to put it on.

Evening

Red is fine. Skip the blue.

Daylight-style light in the evening works against the thing it's meant to support. Save blue mode for mornings.

My wife and I use it for totally different things

She uses the blue for the dark mornings, I use the red after long days at the shop. Same device, we just swap. The spare nose bridge was handy because we ended up on different ones. For two people it's pretty good value.

A month in, genuinely noticing something

Not going to overclaim. What I can say after five weeks is that I'm falling asleep easier than I was in spring, and my eyes feel less strained by 6pm. Whether that's the blue, the red, or just having a routine I couldn't tell you. Either way I'm not stopping.

Appreciate the honest read, Graham. Routine is a big part of it.

Blue in the morning, red at night

This is the one to get if you can't decide. Blue mode while I'm making coffee, red mode for 15 minutes after dinner when my eyes have had enough of the monitor. Two routines, one thing to charge. Honestly should have just bought this first instead of umming over the other two.

That's the exact use case we built Duo for. Thanks Callum.

Winter and screens, covered

I live in Minnesota and I work in front of three monitors. Those are two different problems and this handles both. The blue is for January when it's dark until eight, the red is for every day of the year. Cheaper than buying two devices and only one thing to keep track of.

Comfortable enough to forget about

Wearing it right now typing this. It's under two ounces and the arms are soft so there's no pressure point behind the ear. I've worn glasses my whole life and I'm picky about this stuff. It clears my frames completely.

Duo or One of the Others?

Same frame, same weight, same box. The difference is which wavelengths you get.

MEINNO Red

670nm Red only

If mornings aren't the problem and you only want the red routine, Red runs a higher 670nm output because nothing else shares the power budget.

MEINNO Dawn

480nm Blue + Daylight White

No red light at all. Built purely for mornings — early starts, time zones, and the low-daylight months, with a gentler white mode as well.

Before You Buy

Isn't blue light supposed to be bad for you?

The concern people have read about is short-wave blue below 450nm. The blue mode here peaks at 480nm — comfortably above that region, and the same part of the spectrum daylight itself is rich in. Even so, the measured retinal blue-light figure in blue mode is 7.21 against a permitted limit of 100. See the numbers →

Can I use both modes on the same day?

Yes, just not at the same time and not back to back. Blue in the early morning, red later. More is not better with either one.

Red or Duo — they're the same price?

They are. Duo gives you a second wavelength; Red runs a higher red output because it isn't sharing. If you want both jobs covered by one device, Duo is the practical choice.

Will it improve my vision?

No. It won't change your prescription and it won't replace your glasses. Keep your readers on — the frame is designed to fit over them.

Can I wear it over my glasses?

Yes, and most people do. The open frame sits above the brow and clears most prescription and reading glasses.
